The Role

The Betfair Exchange is a complex and exciting technological product. Always pushing the boundaries of performance while demanding maximum stability and maintainability. Working with fellow Delivery Managers (DM) and Product Owners (PO) within the Betfair Exchange Platform you will facilitate the delivery of projects to enhance and improve our product. As a solid engineer yourself, you will have a strong desire to lead and manage a development team in an Agile, Continuous Delivery-based (CD) environment.

You will be able to demonstrate a good coaching style and possess the qualities to inspire and motivate others in a fast-paced environment. An aspect of the role will also involve shaping our culture and the technical direction of our products. We are looking for someone who has a great understanding of our business and is able to articulate this to our technical teams, providing insight and direction to our developers.

What You Will Be Doing... Key Responsibilities:

• Accountable for the delivery of technology solutions in the Exchange Platform
• Work closely with other Exchange teams to ensure alignment of roadmaps
• Work closely with Product Owners to define requirements for Exchange projects
• Take responsibility for the technology solution, and remove obstacles for the team
• Liaise with business and technology stakeholders to ensure a smooth delivery
• Play a senior role in the use of lean and agile practices across the department
• Up-skill your teams, to build knowledge and expertise in their products and modern delivery techniques

What We Are Looking For... Experience:

• Knowledge of Sports betting or related financial markets
• Working well under time and environmental pressures
• Hands-on experience in delivering complex software solutions
• Working with distributed, resilient and transactional systems in the full CD lifecycle
• Making the right technical decisions driven by a strong commercial understanding
• Strong people and project management experience with a proven ability to lead, motivate and inspire a highly productive, dynamic and technically proficient team
• Hands-on experience of translating agile principles into Software Development practices
• Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, particularly with regard to technical risks, issues and constraints
• Ability to engage with senior stakeholders, both technical and non-technical to discuss and gather requirements
• You must be comfortable in a hybrid office / working from home environment

Education, Qualifications & Experience

• IT management experience within the areas of software development, quality assurance or lean methodologies
• Tertiary level Information Technology qualification or equivalent
