The Role...

Due to the merger in 2020 we are currently undergoing significant reward transformation, in particular within our European-based divisions where we have co-located colleagues.  As part of this transformation we will be creating a Reward Centre of Excellence (“COE”) to deliver all reward strategy and services to three divisions (UK & Ireland, International and Group Functions).  The Reward Director will be responsible for setting-up the COE and, whilst reporting to the CPO for UK&I, will provide services across the 3 divisions and have very strong working relationships with the International and Group Functions CPOs.

The role holder will establish a deep understanding of the different divisional business challenges and interpret Group philosophy to deliver the reward strategy, policies and processes for the divisions.  Whilst one strategy will be in place, ensuring that this can be nuanced to meet the requirements of the different divisions will be important.

The role holder will be responsible for setting-up the European reward team and transitioning the outputs of the transformation work into the team for operational and ongoing delivery and development.  The COE will be responsible for delivering reward strategy, reward business partnering, compensation, benefits and reward communications.

The role holder will proactively identify reward needs on a current and forward looking basis and partner with CPOs, HR Business Partners and business Leaders to lead on reward matters.

 

What You'll Be Doing....

  • Lead the COE reward team in the ownership, design, development, implementation and measurement of reward policies and programs.
  • Develop deep, trusted partnerships with the Chief People Officers, Chief Executive Officers and senior leadership teams for the divisions supported by the COE.
  • Be recognised as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor, educating leaders in reward matters.
  • Partner with the Group Reward & Benefits Director to ensure alignment between Group and Divisions; be an active player in the Group reward community.
  • Partner with stakeholders within HR, Talent, HR Operations on reward programs and policies
  • Through strong and professional thought leadership, provide strategic oversight to the development of reward strategy to enable the Divisional strategies; leverage central practices and influence reward philosophy/strategy at Group level based on Divisional needs.
  • Work closely with the reward transformation team to ensure that all outputs are fit for purpose, meeting the requirements of the businesses; transition transformation work outputs into the COE.
  • Focus on providing reward consultation to business leaders, leverage central practices and tools to foster and drive an alignment with global strategies while advocating for locally relevant practices and delivering outcome appropriate to the local business.
  • Perform deep analysis on the competitiveness and effectiveness of existing reward programs and model potential impact of alternatives.
  • Set-up the Reward COE, defining final structure, resource requirements and transition of current reward team members into the COE.
  • Develop a robust governance structure for all reward processes.
  • Ensure COE provides an excellent service to the divisions, ensuring a high level of reward education and understanding amongst leaders and colleagues; responsible for driving reward engagement and ensuring reward enhances the colleague experience, driving employee engagement and retention.
  • Take ownership for the communication of the reward philosophy/ strategy across UK&I, International and Group Functions.
  • Ensure all reward initiatives and processes for the divisions are delivered successfully through the COE team – including cyclical reward activity, job levelling and benchmarking, benefits management, reward projects etc.
  • Develop reward analysis tools and dashboard. Ensure all aspects of reward are focused on diversity and inclusivity to ensure accessibility and equality of approach to all colleagues.
  • Management of all external reward providers ensuring they deliver excellent service.
  • Ensure reward systems and processes are fit for purpose, focusing on ways to improve and automate.
  • Accountable for the management of the reward budgets, working closely with finance & business leadership to develop business cases for investment.

 

What We're Looking For
