Exchange Data Analyst | Betfair

Department Overview:

Premium accounts are amongst our most sophisticated and demanding customers who are hugely valuable to the Exchange.  This team is fast paced, data driven and highly results-focused, striving to work with our customers to grow the Exchange. The team works closely with the regional commercial teams along with product, technology, trading and customer services. The Exchange Business Analyst will report to the Pricing and Performance Manager.

Role Overview/Purpose:

 The Exchange Data Analyst is part of the Premium team and will be a key analyst within that function. The role is responsible for pricing on the Betfair Exchange. This includes modelling and evaluating pricing strategy on the Exchange to maximise revenue and increase customer retention and acquisition.

This role will be based in Hammersmith.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Pricing and Performance Manager in evaluating all existing pricing structures and processes on the Betfair Exchange and those of competitors.
  • Execute pricing operations and solve pricing queries from both internal teams and external customers.
  • Create and curate algorithms to detect and prevent fraudulent customer activity related to pricing.
  • Modelling pricing deals, commission rates, and other charges levied against our most important customers to make commercial recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Premium Account Managers to enable growth from these customers through the optimisation of pricing structures.
  • Work with other internal teams (e.g. technical delivery, infrastructure, product, operations, and business development) so that issues/requests are escalated and resolved effectively.

Education, Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong analytical background; high numerical aptitude is required.
  • Experience/knowledge with coding languages (SQL, Python, R, etc) with a desire to learn more.
  • Understanding of the interaction between operational and commercial KPIs in an online business.
  • Skilled at comprehending numerous sources of information to make or change decisions and the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the business.
  • High quality university degree is desirable.
