The Role....

Reporting to the Data Centre Manager, you will show a reasonable knowledge of relevant industry hardware, while demonstrating a positive attitude in your passion for the role and day to day job. You will be expected to bring good technical and problem-solving skills to the role and will be capable of solving technical issues. You will combine good technical knowledge with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation, while communicating effectively with colleagues inside the IT division to help us achieve our goals.

 

This is what you'll be doing...

  • You will provide local technical support for the Infrastructure teams to ensure the rapid resolution of all Data Centre related service issues.
  • Adhering strictly to all Data Centre standards, policies, processes and change control procedures.
  • As part of the Data Centre team, you will drive performance of all third parties that support the Data Centre Operations.
  • Assemble and test server systems and networking hardware will be required.
  • Perform necessary tasks to support the provision of data backup and recovery services including media rotation and storage.
  • Undertake hardware upgrades within infrastructure hardware.
  • Work within a team with the Data Centre Manager to support business goals and objectives.

 

What we need from you...

  • Experience in one of the following:
    • 24x7 data centre environment
    • Field Service role supporting Server technologies.
    • Front line in hardware technical support.
  • Good knowledge of some of the following platforms Dell, HP, Cisco, Arista, NetApp and PureStorage technology platforms.
  • Can show knowledge (at a foundation level) of some or all of following:
    • Linux Essentials
    • Networking technologies
    • Backup and recovery
  • Good understanding of mechanical and electrical infrastructure/technologies that support data centres. generators, UPS, CRAC units.
  • Experience of working with UTP and fibre cabling.
  • Systematic approach to high quality installation work.
  • Practical experience of change management procedures.

  • Good logical troubleshooting.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic, pressurised environment.

 

Special Conditions:

  • A flexible attitude to working hours is necessary.
  • The ability to lift heavy IT equipment.
  • Be ready and available to travel to support remote locations.
  • Personal transport desirable as frequent local travel is an integral part of the role.
  • Occasional travel to our European offices
