The Role... 

As an Application Engineer you will be part of a delivery team working within a dynamic, Agile environment. You will have experience in managing application releases through automated pipelines, working with Developers and Product Owners to solve issues and deliver value at pace, ensuring the quality of the product. You have experience of working with complex systems comprising of multiple data sources and collaborating applications.

You understand and embrace the philosophy of Continuous Delivery using Agile methodologies. Working closely with 3rd parties (e.g. OpenBet / SGD) and in-house teams to ensure delivery is provided along with quality. Your drive is to passionately believe in an Agile, DevOps-centric team that builds, releases, operates and maintains its own applications.

You will be part of a forward-thinking team working with both Private Cloud & Public Cloud with a view to taking part in any future migrations to the AWS platform. The team works closely with various stakeholders (internal & external) to ensure seamless integration of changes to our systems.

You will work with some of the leading tools and technologies available in the industry, ensuring productivity is maintained to the highest level.

This role requires strong communication skills, a knowledge of sport, plus familiarity with sports betting would be an advantage.

 

What you'll be doing...

  • Working closely with all team members, both internal and external to ensure timely delivery of quality code in a continuous integration environment.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot issues and strong analytical skills.
  • Delivery & verification of technical changes across a broad range of services.
  • Integration & onboarding of any new services or dependencies.
  • Proactive attitude towards improving the continuous integration and delivery processes in use by the team.
  • Help defining standards, guidelines, and processes to determine product quality or release readiness.
  • Stakeholder engagement and management of expectations for any dependencies.
  • Version Control management of the RPM's as part of the team BAU and Tech Deliverables.
  • Focus on delivering at pace with an eye on quality.
  • Provide support for the multi Brand Production environments in PPB.
  • Contributing to process review and lessons learned activities.

 

What we need from you...

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of continuous delivery, integration and deployment methodologies and strategies.
  • Experience in an Agile environment such as SCRUM and / or Kanban is preferred.
  • Source control software such as GitLab / GitHub or SVN is an advantage.
  • Continuous integration environments such as Jenkins.
  • *Some experience of working with object oriented programming language is an advantage (Java / Python / Ruby).
  • Experience with Git / GitBash command line.
  • Basic Knowledge/Experience in Unix/Linux systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity or working knowledge of Openstack / Citrix NS / Go / Sensu.
